November 2011
Church of the Good Shepherd
On Saturday November 5 from 7.45 am, we’re holding a men’s hot brekky.
It is in our comfortable church hall and cost is only $5.
Come and meet other guys of all ages and have the best hot brekky you’ll have all year!
Ray Beckman, the Anglican chaplain from Nowra Correctional Centre, will be speaking about his experiences.
Should be a cracker.
A thanksgiving ceremony to God was held for young Tia Barker on Saturday November 12 at the Barker’s place at Minimbah.
Many will know that Tia’s mum Cathy had an extraordinarily difficult pregnancy.
The community rallied around Cathy and Frank and their children in a wonderful way. The thanksgiving service was an opportunity to thank God and the community for their help.
You are also welcome to come along to a special service on November 20 at 10 am. We’re baptising three adults over the course of the day - two in this service, then another in the afternoon at Budgong. All three have decided to follow Jesus this year and we want to celebrate!
You may have heard of the Federal Government’s ‘Dollar for Dollar’ initiative. For every dollar contributed by individuals to the Horn of Africa through one of 18 charity organisations, the government will match that financial contribution made.
On November 20 our church is hosting a bike ride from our site to Abernethys Road Budgong, starting at 11. 45 am.
People can get sponsorship for every km they ride (little kids can do a safer adult-supervised ride on a private road in Budgong and get sponsorship per 100 m!).
All the money raised will go to Anglican Aid, one of the 18 ‘dollar for dollar’ organisations. Please speak to Andrew on 4465 1585 for more info.
Finally, don’t forget to ring 4465 1585 and book your spot for our Gingerbread House night on Thursday December 1.
Cost is $28 per house which includes everything you need to make an amazing creation! Andrew Paterson.
