Church of the Good Shepherd:
Would you like to know the basics of what Christians believe?
Are you interested in finding out about the God of the bible? Have you always wanted to ask something about this God?
Andrew Paterson is hosting an informal seven week DVD course called ‘Christianity Explored’ on Tuesdays at 1 pm (goes for an hour) and also Monday evenings from 7 pm at his house, which is on the church site.
It is on now as this Valley Voice goes to print and you are invited!
Each week we’ll share a hot drink, sit comfortably in Andrew’s lounge room, read a section of Mark’s Gospel from the bible and watch an excellent new 10 minute DVD chat about a different aspect of what the Bible says about God, ourselves, and having a relationship with God.
You’ll then have a chance to ask your questions. You can come and not talk too, that is absolutely fine. There is no cost.
You are welcome to speak to Andrew about ‘Christianity Explored’ before you come on 4465 1585.
Our high school youth group is going well. Please tell your teenage kids or neighbours or friends about the group, they are welcome to come (it’s every Friday night in term time from 6 pm to 8 pm).
We have been delighted to baptise Archie Farrugia, son of Lisa and Adam, on May 22, with Deryn (Lisa’s sister) and Paul being the godparents.
Deryn and Lisa’s family have a wonderful long-standing relationship with The Church of the Good Shepherd and it is great to continue having a part to share in their lives.
Finally we are delighted to announce Tim Jenkinson’s engagement to Tiffany.
Tim lives up at Wilde’s Meadow and has been a member of the church for about a year or so.
We congratulate the couple and look forward to their wedding at the end of the year.
Happenings at St Joseph's:
Pastoral Workers in the Diocese came for a day's retreat in late April.
There were prayers and reflections offered in the Church and a luncheon in the hermitage garden.
We gave thanks at Mass for the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Keith and Fay Nelson.
At the conclusion the Papal Blessing was given, and a beautiful framed copy arranged by their family presented.
The Nelson Family and friends were present.
Fr Ronan conducted a week long retreat for deacons preparing for ordination as priests for the Archdiocese of Sydney and the Diocese of Wagga Wagga at the Pauline Monastery at Penrose Park.
Ashley Cheadle and Jay Quinn were married on May 14th with family and friends present. Ashley is presently appearing in Home and Away and Jay is the National Surf Board Champion of New Zealand.
Sunday May 15 was the 40th Anniversary of Fr Ronan's Ordination to the Priesthood and parishioners joined us from around the parish.
Fr Patrick Faherty the parish priest of Nowra concelebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving and Deacon Peter from Penrose Park assisted.
All enjoyed a catered luncheon in the hermitage garden afterward.
Adam Leach and Kylie Smith of Sydney were married at St Joseph's on May 20th.
Adam is a policeman following in the footsteps of his grandfather, father and older brother. Kylie is a Catholic school teacher.
The church was beautifully decorated with flowers.
