Techno Push
On Wednesday August 17, Years 5 and 6 went to Eastern Creek Race Track in Sydney.
We arrived at school at 5:15am to leave at 5:30 am on the bus.
On the way, Mr Smee talked to Nick Rheinberger on the ABC radio about how we made the cart and what we are going to do at Techno Push.
When we arrived at Eastern Creek Race Track, the pit crew took the cart out of Mr Parker’s van. Then we had to take the cart to our shed. While we were waiting for the starting time to reconstruct the cart, the presentation team were talking to one of the judges and they showed her how it works and the poster we made to describe the design features.
After that the NRMA official told us that it was time to build the cart.
IT WAS ON!
The pit crew assembled the cart so quickly that we were the first to finish.
Then we went over to the NRMA supervisors so they could make sure that our cart was safe.
Luckily, we passed the test.
Now it was time for the races.
First Oliver and Caitlin were in the Obstacle race. They had lots of fun and our cart was given a safety sticker to say it was roadworthy.
Then we competed in the sprint relays and the adventure relays.
We had lots of fun but were all sleepy by the time our bus arrived back in the Valley.

Open Day and Book Fair
On Thursday August 4, Kangaroo Valley Public School held an open day, where all parents could come and observe the work that the children had done during the past few weeks.
Many parents came and enjoyed a glorious sausage sizzle (supplied by barbeques galore). The library was also open selling new books to all the children.
All of the profits made on the day are donated to the school. After viewing their childrens’ school books and artwork, parents sat down to watch a wonderful percussion performance by the K1/2 classes.
Mrs Nickell’s choir sang ‘Chim Chimminy, ‘Singing in the Shower’ and ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ and 4, 5, 6 recited the poem ‘We’re All Australians Now’ by A.B. Paterson. Over all it was a wonderful day!!!!!!!

Mind Marathon
On Monday the August 8, Josh, Jenson, Jaxon and I awoke at 4.30am to go to The Mind Marathon at East Hills Boys School.
There was a huge marquee where all the groups were gathered at round tables.
The first challenge was knot tying.
There were lots of difficult knots but we pulled through.
After that there were Writing tests, Geography and History tests, General Knowledge tests and, hardest of all, the Maths test.
It was like a really long NAPLAN test that lasted almost all day!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, after a quick trivia quiz, it was time to go home.
It was really fun , but it was definitely hard work!!!!!!!!
