Public school has an active winter program

Green Connect

In the first week of term, a group of Korean volunteers (Green Connect) came to our school to fix up Kookaburra Creek.

Kookaburra Creek is one of our outdoor learning spaces with paths winding through it. The volunteers removed all the lantana and privet.

They cleared all the other weeds and cleaned all the paths.

They put down weed mats and wood chips as an experiment to kill the weeds.

The next day all the Korean visitors did a performance.

Two girls played the Korean national anthem on a flute.

The boys did tak wan do and all the rest sang a beautiful song.

We enjoyed the performance and are happy that we can use Kookaburra Creek again.

Doing Things Together Day

SerpentOn doing things together day, the whole school got together in little groups and went around the school doing activities.

Some of the activities included "spear throwing" games with vortexes and mini bean bags, dot art totems, charades, and lots of painting.

In Mrs. Kent's and Mrs. Nickel's room, Mrs. Kent read a book about the rainbow snake and we painted pictures and made a group collage of the rainbow snake.

We also watched movie clips about aboriginals and their lives and did drawings about aboriginal legends.

It was a very fun day!!

New School Library

LibraryOn the 6th of August, the contractors arrived, fences were built and machines were at the ready to build the new Kangaroo Valley school library.

We had to say goodbye to the Whitehouse where we have enjoyed gardening activities to make way for the tractors.

Hopefully it will be done before Christmas so year 6 can see it before they leave for high school

Athletics Carnival

CarnivalOn Friday 11th of July KVPS held its annual athletics carnival at Osborne Park.

The stakes were high and losing was not an option.

The air was filled with discus, javelins, and shot-puts and the cheers of each House as they shouted support for their house members. Congratulations to all the people who participated in the events and special thanks to Mr Vucic and all the teachers.

We are very lucky to have a team of 27 that went to the District carnival at the Shoalhaven High School on August 28.

Our team was competing, not only for a place in the area but also to try our best and have fun. We also went on the August 27 for high jump. Good luck and congratulations to those who got through.

School Photos

On August 11 it was time for the school photos. First we lined up for a "whole school" photo in front of the school.

The photographer did a great job to make us laugh.

Then it was time for class and single photos, and lastly family photos.

We're sure we got some great shots.
