October 2011
The mums and dads have had a working bee to tidy up the pre school playground.
They worked hard pulling out weeds, cleaning the soft fall, replacing light globes and repairing bikes.
They also filled the sand pit with new sand.
The children have loved playing in the re vitalised sand pit.
Thank you mums and dads, and also big thanks to John from the “Red Shed” for donating the new sand to the pre school.
Julaiha’s Mum, Intan, has been sharing her gardening skills with us.
She has helped the children plant seeds and flowers in our garden.
The bright marigolds and ornamental cabbages have livened up our pre school entrance.
We can’t wait to see the beans, potatoes and radishes grow!
The children are looking after the plants, making sure they are watered well.
The children have been learning about keeping healthy. Eating healthy foods, getting enough exercise and rest, washing hands, and keeping safe in the sun.
They were very excited to visit Happy Healthy Harold in the Life Education van when he visited the big school.
He knows all about keeping healthy!
It is a good thing that we have been learning about hand washing, because a favourite activity since the weather has warmed up is creating mud puddles and playing in them.
The children have made rivers and waterfalls. They have explored the wonderful textures of water and mud with their fingers and toes.
The toy dinosaurs have had so much fun in the dinosaur swamp.
They have particularly enjoyed the mud packs! Natural materials are a rich source of learning.
The observing, thinking, planning, communicating and sharing skills being developed through these games are of enormous value.
