June 2011
Kangaroo Valley Pre School is a Community Pre School.
This means that it is run by a committee, usually consisting of parents of the pre school children voted in at the annual general meeting.
The committee is the “Board of Directors” who are in charge of running the pre school business, and making sure it is run in line with current laws and regulations.
The committee employ professional staff who are responsible for the educational programme and daily running of the service.
The committee applies to the government every year for a grant to fund the service.
This is never enough to fully fund the operation, so the short fall is made up through fees and fund raising.
The Winter Dance is the major fund raiser each year for the pre school.
It ensures that there is enough cash to keep the service open, keep the building in good repair and purchase teaching resources while keeping fees affordable.
Fees would need to be more than $55 per day per child to make ends meet without fund raising. (At present fees are $30 per day).
One day we hope that government will fully fund pre school education.
In the mean time, we fund raise
so it’s Winter Dance time again!
Get out your winter glad rags, organise a table of friends and be ready to enjoy the Kangaroo Valley “Winter Wonderland” on Saturday 25th June.
Jeremy Butterworth will be performing live from 6.30 pm, then from 9.30 – 11 pm its time to get your groove on for some energetic dance music.
There will be a fully licenced bar (no BYO). Delicious home made soups and curries will be available to warm you. And of course there will be some exciting prizes to be auctioned.
Come along and enjoy a night out with friends, while supporting your local pre school. Tickets are available at the Wood shop for $25.
Dennis Clare from Young Australia Workshop brought his Mime-O-Rama Show to pre school. Amelia & Charlotte dressed up with Dennis and danced with funny long arms.
Ashleigh had a tug–o-war with Dennis using an imaginary rope!
He showed us mime walking and running as well as moon walking.
We were fascinated with the amazing shapes he made with his silver “Hungry Caterpillar”
We were allowed to crawl through the silver caterpillar after the show !
Surely our first experience of Surreal performance art! Dennis can be seen performing on You Tube at “carpeidiotus”.
Uwe Ueckert has kindly donated a beautiful hand crafted dolls house to the children at the pre school.
The children are enjoying this lovely gift exploring the rooms and the furniture, discovering all the details , the curtains, window boxes and pictures on the walls.
Thank you Uwe (and your grandchildren who kindly allowed you to pass it on to us) for your generosity.
