February 2011 - Program for 2011

The On-Track Bushwalking Group has a great programme for you this year.

If you are interested, and have not attended before, then please email or phone Lee Sharam or Fran Pritchard to be put on the contact list for further details of each walk; we would love to have you come along.

The proposed date for each month’s walk and the general area of the walks are as follows:  (all walks are on a Sunday)

February 27th  - Little Blowhole walk

March 27th  - Abraham’s Bosom – the reverse walk

April 17th – Maynard’s Falls

May 22nd – Bugong’s Escarpment

June 19th – Wodi Wodi Track

July 17th – A walk in the Highlands

August 21st – Mt Keira Ring Track

September 18th – Hoddles Track and Saddleback

October 16th – Bendalong Coastline and Green Island

November 13th – Mount Kembla

December 4th – Christmas walk and party

These dates may have to be changed when other Valley functions occur, so do please check each one beforehand.  An email will be sent the week before each walk, alerting you to the details specific to that particular month’s walk, after we have completed the recce.

Walk Grades:

We use the following system for grading our walks.

1. Very easy: The walk is suitable for wheelchairs and prams.

2. Easy: The walk has relatively gentle grades and good surfaces.

3. Medium: There are mostly good surfaces on the walk, but there are some rough or steep sections.

4. Medium/Hard: The walk includes rough and steep sections, which may require clambering.

5. Hard: The walk is strenuous involving steep ascents or descents over rough terrain.  It is recommended for fit and/or experienced walkers.

We are not affiliated with the Sport and Recreation groups and so all walkers must take responsibility for their own safety and their level of ability to complete the walks.

They must also be prepared for the terrain, carry water, sunscreen, hats, food and any other equipment they know that they may need.  We have fun and we hope that you will be able to join us.                                              Lee Sharam
